Queen Letizia of Spain presided over the 7th edition of the ONCE Foundation’s Discapnet Awards at the Headquarters of “For Digital Talent,” ONCE Foundation in Madrid. The awards for Accessible Technologies, which recognise ICT accessibility and commitment to people with disabilities.
‘By Digital Talent’ is a program of Fundación ONCE, launched in 2019, which aims to improve the employability of people with disabilities in the digital and technological field. Since then, more than 26,000 persons with disabilities have been trained, of whom 74 per cent have been women with disabilities.
A total of 3,600 training actions have been carried out both in person and online. The program has a permanent physical headquarters in Madrid, and it is expected to be able to open another two or three venues in cities such as Malaga, Valencia or Barcelona.
The programme includes two types of training, on the one hand, advanced digital training courses including cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, technical English, web development and digital marketing; or basic digital skills courses.
