King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain attended the first meeting of the Royal Board of Trustees of the Royal Collections Gallery at the Royal Palace of Madrid. The Royal Board acts as the support and advice to the Board of Directors of the National Heritage in relation to the Gallery of the Royal Collections to help meet their objectives.
The King opened the session in which the points of the Constitution of the Royal Patronage were discussed, the first year’s balance sheet, Programme of activities commemorating the first anniversary and future projects. The Gallery of the Royal Collections, built in the monumental complex of the Royal Palace of Madrid that opens to the park of Campo del Moro from the Plaza de la Armería, constitutes the most important state project of the museum policy of recent decades in Spain.
The Royal Collections Gallery has become the most contemporary museum of National Heritage, not only in its appearance, but also in its management. It was inaugurated just 10 months ago, but more than 550,000 people have already visited it, facilitating an increase in National Heritage incomes that they invest in society.
