The fourth day of the Carolean Era saw the beginning of farewells. The beloved Queen, Mother, and Grandmother Elizabeth II began her last journey and departed the beloved home, Balmoral Castle.
Her Majesty traveled in a Hearse from Balmoral Castle, Royal Deeside to The Palace of Holyroodhouse, Edinburgh on Sunday 11 September. It was a 6-hour long journey by Road from Balmoral to Edinburgh. Following the Hearse closely was Princess Anne and her husband Sir Tim Lawrence.

It was a very emotional journey for the members of the public also who lined up the streets and paid moving tributes to the Queen – some with pipe music, some with horses, some with tractors, some with flowers, and some just standing still and silent. The Nation mourns the loss of a great leader who acted as the lynchpin for more than 7 decades of her life and gave everything to public service.
The Wreath on the coffin featured Dhalias, Sweet Peas, Phlox, White Heather, and Pine Fir from the Balmoral Estate. On arrival at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the coffin was met by The Duke of York, The Earl and Countess of Wessex, Princess Royal, and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence.
Tomorrow The Queen’s coffin will be taken from the Palace of Holyroodhouse to St Giles’ Cathedral. The King along with the members of the Royal Family will form a procession. Minute guns will be fired as the Procession makes its way up the Royal Mile. The last round will fire as the Hearse stops outside St Giles’ Cathedral. There will be a Service to celebrate the life of The Queen and her connection to Scotland at St Giles’ Cathedral that will be attended by the members of the Royal Family, Government, friends, representatives from the charities and organizations The Queen was affiliated to in Scotland, and the Public.
After that Her Majesty The Queen will lie at Rest at St Giles’ Cathedral following the Service before the Coffin’s journey to London. Members of the public who wish to do so will be able to view the Coffin at Rest and pay their respects. This is anticipated to begin around 17:30 on Monday 12 September and conclude the following afternoon.
The new Prince of Wales undertook his first official engagement. Prince William talked to the First Minister of Wales, Mark Drakeford, over the telephone. Releasing the information Kensington Palace said,
HRH thanked the First Minister for his fitting tribute, on behalf of the people of Wales, to Her Majesty The Queen.
HRH expressed his and The Princess of Wales’ honour in being asked by His Majesty The King to serve the Welsh people. They will do so with humility and great respect.
The Prince acknowledged his and the Princess’s deep affection for Wales, having made their first family home in Anglesey including during the earliest months of Prince George’s life. The Prince and Princess will spend the months and years ahead deepening their relationship with communities across Wales.
They want to do their part to support the aspirations of the Welsh people and to shine a spotlight on both the challenges and opportunities in front of them. The Prince and Princess look forward to celebrating Wales’ proud history and traditions as well as a future that is full of promise.
They will seek to live up to the proud contribution that members of the Royal family have made in years past. TRHs look forward to traveling to Wales very soon, and to meeting the First Minister and other leaders at the earliest opportunity.
The King and The Queen held many audiences at Buckingham Palace that included a meeting with Baroness Scotland, Secretary General of the Commonwealth, and Rev Dr. David Hoyle, Dean of Westminister. Later on, they hosted a reception for High Commissioners of the Realms of the Commonwealth at the Palace.
Saturday was the day of Pomp and Pageantry. The new King was proclaimed at St. Jame’s Palace.
