On Sunday afternoon King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain departed from the State Pavilion of the Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport to attend the coronation ceremony of Emperor Naruhito of Japan that will be on October 22, 2019, six months after the abdication of his father, EmperorAkihito.
Felipe and Letizia received the guard of honours and King reviewed the troops before leaving Madrid.
In Japan, the royal couple was received by the Ambassador of Spain in Japan, Jorge Toledo and the representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and former ambassador of Japan in Spain, Mr Satoru Satoh.
The ceremony will be held at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo with the presence of thousands of guests and delegations from around the world and is expected to be similar to that starred by Emperor Akihito on November 12, 1990. On that occasion, the solemn coronation lasted for 30 minutes under the same rites that have been used for more than a thousand years in the Japanese Imperial House.
For the day, Queen Letizia wore a simple but powerful black look.
She was wearing black Carolina Herrera crepe double-breasted blazer. Thanks to Nuria on Twitter for the id. The Blazer is available online for £640.
Queen paired the blazer with a slim-leg trouser from the same label. The slim-leg trouser in crepe is available online for £295.
Letizia wore Hugo Boss ‘Ferie’ short-sleeved sweater underneath the suit. We saw the sweater the first time in January this year.
