Today, Queen Letizia of Spain was at the IESE Campus in Madrid to present the third edition of the International Friendship Award – the prestigious recognition from the Chinese Government to foreigners who have contributed in an extraordinary way to the economic and social development of the country.

It was the only engagement scheduled for Queen Letizia who just finished a visit to Japan and South Korea last week.

The International Friendship Award is an initiative to promote exchange and understanding between China and the world, founded by Professor Pedro Nueno, honorary president of China Europe International Business School (CEIBS).

In 2009, the Government of the People’s Republic of China granted Professor Pedro Nueno the “Friendship Award”, the highest distinction of the Chinese Government to foreigners who have contributed in an extraordinary way to the economic and social development of the country. Every year the Chinese Government usually rewards 50 foreign experts in different areas, while in certain anniversaries up to 100 people are rewarded. In total, some 1249 foreign professionals from 67 countries have received the Friendship Award since 1991.

Upon her arrival, the event began in the auditorium with a presentation about the “China Europe International Business School “(CEIBS) promoter of the” International Friendship Award “.

Next, Letizia presented the awards to the winners. This year’s awards went to – Hong Tianzhu, Lidan Qi,  Lilling Qi, Chen Xi, Iqbal Survé, Eric Ip and Ibukun Awasika.

After the awards, a small conference on “Global Economic Environment: the future of China and Africa” was hosted.

 After this conference, Queen went to the BBVA classroom where she was greeted by the Spanish students of the “Master in Management” of the IESE School and held a meeting with the winners.

Now to What Letizia Wore – For the day, Queen kept her look minimal by bringing back many old elements from her wardrobe.

The only new element of her today’s look was a black full-sleeved blouse with vee-neckline. The label of the blouse is still unknown. Underneath the blouse, Letizia was wearing a black tank-top.

Last year on her birthday, Leonor gave her first reading at the headquarters of the Cervantes Institute in Madrid on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of its constitution’s approval by the Congress of Deputies.

In the last leg of the South Korea state visit, King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain visited the leading Korean technology Science park –LG.

At the science park, the royal couple was informed about the evolution of the company and its main projects before showing them some of its latest products and prototypes in research and on the future in Artificial Intelligence and 5G Technologies on which LG is focusing.

Next, they toured the Innovation Gallery, where they see the working of an autonomous vehicle “Clover”, Oled sound devices and roller screen, and finally the robotics space.

In the LG Science park 22,000 engineers, scientists and developers work on technological advances that allow artificial intelligence to be applied to smart homes and cities. The campus, opened last year, has an area of ​​1.1 hectares and is made up of 26 buildings, parks and exhibition areas.

After last night’s gala dinner hosted by the President and First Lady of South Korea, the Spanish King and Queen had a busy start for the day 2 of their State visit to the Asian Country.

Early in the morning, Queen Letizia visited the Headquarters of the Commercial Investment Promotion Agency of the Republic of Korea (KOTRA), accompanied by the First Lady of the Republic of Korea, Kim Jung-sook. At the same time, King Felipe hosted a breakfast with the representatives of the main industrial conglomerates of the Republic of Korea that was also attended by the Spanish delegation.

Both the ladies held a meeting with authorities from various South Korean technology emerging companies focused on improving the lives of disadvantaged people, helping to combat the climate crisis or quickly detecting diseases such as malaria.

In KOTRA, those responsible for five newly created South Korean startups explained the use they have made of new technologies to contribute to social causes.  One of them, Dot, focused on supporting people with visual impairment or hearing problems in developing countries, the designer explained that he has created a smartwatch that allows Braille to transform texts.

Next, King Felipe and Queen Letizia visited the Seoul City Hall, where they held a meeting with the mayor of Seoul, Park Won-soon, who made a presentation, on a digital screen, of the Seoul Smart City project.
