King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain today traveled to Pontevedra to present the Princess of Girona Foundation ‘School of the Year 2020 Award’ to the Mestra Clara Torres Rural School.
The School was recognized for being an example of dynamization in rural environments with six classrooms divided into different parishes of the municipality and which stands out for its commitment to the pedagogical integration of the value of solidarity and its capacity for educational transformation.
The award trophy is a sculpture designed by the plastic artist Juan Zamora (FPdGi Arts and Letters Award 2017) that represents an open book, made in bronze with slate patina. In addition, the center will receive ad hoc training for the teaching team on pedagogical innovation issues.
Felipe and Letizia toured the school, visited various classrooms, and participated in different activities to learn more about the school. The first stop was the garden, where the seedling workshops, cooking show, and preparation of acorn flour were going on.
Next, Don Felipe and Doña Letizia went inside the school, in the hall, they found a small school radio studio that was broadcasting live. Next, they went to Classroom 2, where they took their seats to attend a sign language class, in which a story was read and the students learned to sign parts of the body.
The Royal couple also visited the illustration workshop, in which they received a book that had the illustrations drawn by students. Then they met with young people who have gone through the first edition of “Teacher Generation” – a teacher training and professional development program that focuses on internships in the field of rural schools in Galicia, Aragon, and Extremadura.

The next stop of the day was the Rural Center Agrupado Mestra Clara Torres Escuela de Pexegueiro. At the center, Felipe and Letizia toured the Yoga workshop and the workshop for the construction of instruments with recycled material. They also saw a Robotics workshop, in which students learn the concept of spatial orientation.
Next, Don Felipe and Doña Letizia continued their visit by going to the assembly hall. At the entrance, they met a team from Radio Educativa that was broadcasting live. Then Their Majesties the Kings took their places in the front row of the auditorium.
King Felipe and Queen Letizia presented the 2020 School Award to the director of the CRA Mestra Clara Torres and the former director of the Center at a small ceremony organized in the Auditorium. Before leaving King Felipe and Queen Letizia had the opportunity to talk with former recipients of the School of the Year award, the Agrupados Rural Schools, and with staff from the Community of Montes de Pexegueiro.
Moving towards Queen Letizia Style – Letizia once again brought her petal pink Hugo Boss suit back that she first wore in December 2019.

The suit consists of Jericoa Stretch Wool Double Breasted Blazer and Tiluna1 Stretch Wool Twill Cropped Trousers.

She paired the outfit with pink Hugo Boss Mayfair Pumps.

Letizia finished the look with her gold bamboo earrings and her Karen Hallam gold ring.
