Spanish King Felipe and Queen Letizia are hosting the first state visit of the year at the Royal Palace of Zarzuela in Madrid this week. The royal guests are the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, and his wife Sheikha Jawaher Bint Hamad Bin Suhaim Al Thani. King Felipe and Queen Letizia are known for their hospitality and a military ceremonial welcome for the guests during the state visit with full royal pomp and pageantry. This occasion was not an exception either.
The last state visit to Spain we saw was in November 2021 when the President of Italy and his daughter visited Spain for two days. Yesterday His Majesty the King received the Emir at the El Pardo Palace upon his arrival in Madrid, His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad and his wife are on a two days long State visit to Spain.
Today Felipe and Letizia welcomed the Qatar couple in the courtyard which was followed by the National anthem, a military parade, an inspection of the guard of honor, and a meeting with the delegates of both the countries. Then King Felipe and Queen Letizia hosted a luncheon at the Royal Palace for their guests. Joining them were the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, the Ambassador of the State of Qatar in Spain, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union, and the Ambassador of Spain in the State of Qatar.
The Royals and their guests stood for the official photograph before lunch, outside the doors of the Royal Palace. Tonight there will be a gala dinner at the Royal Palace of Zarzuela in Madrid hosted by The King and Queen. We can expect a gorgeous gown and some royal bling from The stylish Spanish Queen tonight.
