King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain presented the 2022 National Innovation and Design Awards at the Niemeyer Center in Avilés, Austrias. The awards recognise those people and entities that have made innovation an essential element in the development of their professional strategy and business growth.

The awards are presented in 8 different categories: National Innovation ‘Innovative Trajectory’ Award, National Innovation ‘Large Company’ Award, National Innovation  ‘Small and Medium Enterprise’ Award, National Design  ‘Professionals’ Award, National Design ‘Companies’ Award, National Design Young Designers’ Award.  Special Mention in Design 2022 was the ‘Professionals’  and Special Mention in Innovation 2022 was the ‘Innovative Trajectory’ modality.

The awards are usually honorary, except for the National Award for Innovation in the ‘Small and Medium Enterprise’ modality, which has an endowment of 50,000 euros; the National Design Award in the ‘Professionals’ modality with an endowment of 50,000 euros; and the National Design Award in the ‘Young Designers’ modality with 30,000 euros.

After the award presentation, King Felipe and Queen Letizia observed a round table discussion conducted by the winners.

Letizia brought back her  Inés Martín Alcalde pinstriped suit that she first wore in February 2022 at the Art-Fair inauguration.

 The €420 suit consists of a pinstripe navy jacket and matching trousers. The blazer features shoulder pads, double-breasted button fastening, and a square pocket with a sash at the waistline and comes with matching high-waisted tuxedo-style trousers.
