King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain attended the Commemorative act marking the Bicentennial of the Ateneo de Madrid. The Ateneo de Madrid is a private cultural institution located in the capital of Spain that was founded in 1820.
The institute has been a constant reference to Spanish culture for almost two centuries as well as the academic and intellectual work center. The Ateneo has managed to coin an identity in the contemporary age around the cultivation of ideas and intellectual and artistic innovation, being a benchmark both in Spain and internationally.
The Athenaeum, identified since the central decades of the 19th century as the “Holland of Spain”, became a sign of its capacity for integration and respect towards all ideas and programs and an home of European cultural references that served as guide to the society in Spain for an intellectual and creative progress.
The event began with the musical performances of of the Trio Arbós, “Trío no 2 op. 76, Lento-Allegro molto moderato” by Joaquín Turina; “Asturiana y Polo de las Siete canciones populares españolas”, by Manuel de Falla; “Granaína and bulería by Antonio Gómez “El Turry”.
The Ateneo de Madrid has always been the vanguard of culture and science, a refuge for free thought, a space for debate and intellectual meeting, an emblem of its time. And here we happily gather, after the upheaval caused by the pandemic, to celebrate his great legacy and celebrate his Bicentennial.

The Queen paired the outfit with her black Hugo Boss Amie Belt that she debuted in October 2022 during Germany visit.
