The Details of Royal Wedding of Crown Prince Al Hussein of Jordan and Rajwa Khaled Al Saif

The Royal wedding of Crown Prince Al Hussein of Jordan and Rajwa Khaled Al Seif is less than 48 hours away. The celebrations in Amman are already in full swing. So is the rumour mill. Let’s have a look at all the official wedding details that we know so far. This page will be updated as we get more details of the wedding ceremony and official celebrations, so do not forget to check back again.

Wedding Ceremony

The Couple who got engaged in August 2022 will be getting married on June 01st at Zahran Palace in Amman at 4 PM local time. The wedding ceremony will be broadcast live and will cover the arrival of the guests and the Katb Al Kitab ceremony at the Zahran Palace. Their ceremony will be attended by around 140 guests including family, friends and foreign royals.

Wedding Procession

After the wedding ceremony, The newly married couple will head to Al Husseiniya Palace via a red motorcade. The red motorcade is the special convoy of eight bright red armed Land Rover vehicles and 11 motorcycles with sometimes flanked by horse and camel riders. This motorcade is used only on special and national occasions.

Reception

At Al Husseiniya King Abdullah II and Queen Rania will host a reception for around 1700 guests. The reception is set to be dazzled by performances of local and regional singers, Jordanian choirs and bands, the national orchestra and folk dance troupes. The dress code for the event is black-tie so no tiaras at this event but we will be able to watch the procession and arrival of guests at the Reception live. The rest of the evening will be private away from the prying eyes of the media.

Wedding Banquet

After the wedding reception, King Abdullah II and Queen Rania will host a special wedding banquet later in the evening that will be attended by Jordan and Saudi Arabian Royal Families, Foreign Royals who will be in the country for the wedding ceremony and various Political faces at the Al Husseiniya Palace. The Press release issued by The Royal Hashemite Court described the banquet as

“The Wedding Banquet will combine the formalities and diplomatic aspects of a state banquet with the joyous celebration and traditions of a wedding ceremony”

This is the event where the Royal Ladies might be dazzling the night in tiaras and Royal jewels. As the event is going to be a private one, we might not have any glimpse immediately. But we can expect pictures to be released later on.

On May 07th, The Royal Court of Hashemite released the official logo of the wedding. The logo has the Arabic word ‘Nafrah’ that means ‘We Rejoice’. The logo was described as a ‘unique representation of our celebration‘ by the Royal court. The word ‘Nafrah’ is divided into two parts to reflect the initials of Hussein and Rajwa.

Last week, The Royal court released many portraits of the Princess-to-be giving us a small glimpse into her private life.

There have been many speculations going on across various social media platforms that a celebration is being planned in Sardinia, Italy after the Royal Wedding where a large gazebo on the estate of Villa Joy is being constructed. There has been a protest going on against the construction. The Royal Hashemite Court today morning released a statement and confirmed that there is no Italian or foreign celebration taking place for the royal wedding.

“All celebrations related to the wedding of Crown Prince Al Hussein and Miss Rajwa will be taking place strictly in Jordan, and there is no intention to hold any celebration related to the occasion outside the kingdom.”

On May 22nd, Queen Rania hosted a lavish Henna Party for her daughter-in-law to be. Rajwa was looking absolutely stunning in a white and gold Honayda Serafi dress. You can read more about the Henna party here.

The guest list for the wedding ceremony is equally high-profile. With the wedding being shipped as the Royal Wedding of the year, we can expect to see various Foreign Royals and international diplomatic and political faces at the wedding. • Princess Hisako and Princess Tsuguko of Japan
• Prince Sébastien of Luxembourg
• Hassanal Bolkiah ibni Omar Ali Saifuddien III – Sultan of Brunei
• Sheikha Mozah of Qatar and Sheik Khalifa Al Thani

As per the Royal Watcher Blog, the guests have been given a black-tie dress code but no tiaras. So while there will be no tiaras dazzling the day away we can expect gorgeous gowns and plenty of Royal jewels at the ceremony.

On the eve of the wedding, a special dinner will be hosted at the Raghadan Palace for the guests attending the wedding the next day.

In April Rajwa joined Al Hussein for a technology forum, where Hussein answered the Million Dollar question, ‘How did they meet’?

Now a bit about the wedding and reception venues. The Zahran Palace was built in 1957 and is one of the 10 Royal palaces used by the Hashemite Royals. Zahran is an Arabic word which means ‘a blooming flower’. After the demise of King Abdullah II’s grandmother Queen Mother the late Zain Al Sharaf in 1994, the Palace was turned into the Hashemite Headquarters where various official events take place.

The wedding of King Abdulla II and Queen Rania in 1993 took place at the Zahran Palace. The last big event was the wedding of n Crown Prince Hamzah bin Hussein’s wedding to Princess Noor in 2004.

Al Husseiniya Palace built in 2006 is the official working Palace of The Hashemite Royals. The offices of King Abdullah II, Queen Rania and Crown Prince Al Hussein are located at this Palace. The Palace was named Al Husseiniya due to its location next to the King Hussein bin Talal Mosque. Al Husseiniya is the place where The King and Queen receive Foreign royals and Political leaders, and conduct their day-to-day meetings and activities.

Queen Rania hosted the Henna party for her daughter Princess Iman at the Al Husseiniya earlier this year.

Raghadan Palace was built between 1924-1927. The Palace was the residence of King Abdullah I and was the central location to receive foreign guests during his reign.

Couture and Royals mentioned an interesting theory about the possible wedding dress. Rajwa was seen in Milan with Queen Rania in December 2022 when Rania was visiting the city with King Abdullah II. Rajwa’s mother was also present there. It’s possible that all three ladies were in the city to finalise the wedding dress.
