The Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Catherine (Kate Middleton), hosted a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace on behalf of King Charles III. It has been a busy week for the Royal couple as they have been attending various Coronation related events since the last Wednesday. This was William and Catherine’s first Garden party of the year.
Joining them at the party were The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. In a way, the party was the wrap-up of the 4 days long Coronation weekend. The garden parties are the monarch’s way of thanking the community for their service. Every year in summer, The British sovereign or members of The Royal family host three Garden Parties at Buckingham Palace, and one at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Scotland.
This year’s garden party saw one of the most stunning outfit from Kate’s wardrobe making a second appearance – her blue Elie Saab set.
Historically, Garden Parties took the place of presentation parties attended by debutantes, and have evolved into a way of recognising and rewarding public service. Throughout the country, a long-established network of sponsors is used to invite guests, who include Lord-Lieutenants, Societies and Associations, Government Departments, Local Government, the Services, the Church and other Faiths. They nominate guests for invitation and we hope in this way to achieve a representative cross-section of the community.
This particular party had 8000 guests invited for an evening of tea and royal treats in the gardens of Buckingham Palace in recognition of their public service, charity work, or for making a positive impact in their community. The party began with the interpretation of the National Anthem and then the Royals spread out to meet as many guests as possible.

Catherine once again paired the outfit with the same accessories. She was wearing her Philip Treacy OC 147 Hat that she wore on Trooping the Colour Parade in 2016.

The difference between Royal Ascot and today’s look was the pair of earrings. This time The Princess of Wales wore Kiki Lola Blue Topaz Hoop Earrings.
