King Felipe and Queen Letizia attended Armed Forces Day

King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain presided over the annual Armed Forces Day. Armed forces day is an annual event and is a staple fixture of Felipe and Letizia’s summer calendar. The Royal couple arrived at Albert Einstein Square in Granada escorted by the Royal Escort Squad.  Armed Forces Day brings Spaniards, civilians and the military together, with the aim of accentuating the knowledge that society has of its Armed Forces.

They were welcomed with Military honours after which King Felipe reviewed the troops. The acts began with the hoisting of the National Ensign by three Royal Guards, representatives of each one of the Armies and the Navy, and a Civil Guard of the House of His Majesty the King.

A tribute to the fallen heroes was paid and a special wreath was laid by King Felipe followed by the interpretation of “Death is not the end”. A Parade constituting of 3,100 soldiers, 150 vehicles and mobile units, and 70 aircraft were conducted. Armed forces is celebrated since 1978 as a tribute to all the military personnel from all forms of the military.
