Queen Letizia of Spain began the day 2 of her Colombia Cooperation visit from the city of Cali where she learned more about the coffee farm of the Ecomún-Cecoespe Cooperative in the municipality of Yotoco. The Spanish Cooperation runs various projects in many developing country to improve the health, education, social and gender equality in these countries. Every year, Letizia visit a country to learn more about the projects and services provided by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).
The second stop of the day was Cali Gardening Workshop School in the afternoon. The last stop of the day was the Santa Elena neighborhood. During her visits, Letizia met with the volunteers and staff running the projects and local who are the recipients of the benefits and services in these areas.
During the day, Queen Letizia was accompanied by the Vice Minister of Regional Development and Heritage of Colombia, the Spanish Ambassador to Colombia, the Secretary of State for International Cooperation and the Director of Cooperation for Latin America and the Caribbean.
At the last stop, the Santa Elena neighborhood, The Queen learnt about women’s projects financed by the BBVA Microfinance Foundation (Bancamía), consisting of the management of street stalls. BBVA is Letizia’s patronage.
In the evening, Queen bid farewell to the authorities of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and headed home.
