King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain are in Girona with their daughters Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia for the annual Princess of Girona Foundation awards. Princes Leonor holds the title of Princess of Asturias and Girona as the heiress to the Spanish Throne and is 1st in line. The foundation awards are an annual event where the either the King or Princess of Asturias have been presenting the awards.
This year’s awards and events were hosted at the Camiral Hotel in Caldes de Malavella. Ahead of the award ceremony, King Felipe and Queen Letizia together with the Princess of Asturias and of Girona and the Infanta Sofía held a meeting with winners of previous editions of the Princess of Girona Foundation Awards.
Earlier in the morning, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia chaired the meeting of the Advisory Council. During the meeting, the Report “Paths that Converge: young people and companies facing the Challenge of Talent” was discovered. The Foundation has been presenting these awards since 2010 to young talented people who are doing outstanding work in their own fields.
While King and Queen were in a meeting, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia undertook a separate engagement – Both Princesses participated in a workshop concert by AmplificARTE. It is an educational project that uses music as a transversal discipline and a tool to work on the personal development and emotional well-being of young people.
This initiative, promoted by the Princess of Girona Foundation and Art House Academy, has reached 25 educational centres throughout Spain and has impacted more than 16,000 young people throughout the 2022-2023 academic year.
In the final part of the workshop, King Felipe and Queen Letizia joined their daughters and met with the young talents participating in the workshop.
In the evening, The Royals will be presiding over the annual award ceremony.
