Queen Letizia of Spain has arrived in Palma de Mallorca for the summer break where she will attend various engagements before a quiet family time. Her first engagement in Palma was the 13th Mallorca Film Festival at Cultural Center “La Misericordia”- An annual event that seems to becoming a staple event in her royal calendar.
The annual film festival started on July 24th and today was its closing ceremony. The 6-day long festival showed various films, music and talk sessions. The festival featured 63 feature films, nine short films, 15 world premieres and 34 national ones. 16 concerts have also been programmed and more than 200 guests from the audiovisual industry met in the Balearic capital.
Letizia presented the film awards to the jury and critics. For the last decade, the festival aims to make the best international films known to the public that could not find a place in theatres.
The Queen watched the screening of “Creatura”, winner of the Best European Film award at the Directors’ Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival.
