Princess Leonor of Spain was once again in the center of the stage today in Oviedo when she presented the 2023 Princess of Asturias Awards Winners the traditional Laureates. King Felipe VI, Queen Letizia, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia are in Oviedo for the annual Princess of Asturias awards. Last night the family attended traditional Princess of Asturias Awards concert.
This morning, the first event that the Spanish Royal Family attended was an audience at the Reconquista Hotel. The Royal family met with the winners of the “Medals of Asturias 2023”; the winners of the “End of Degree 2022” awards from the University of Oviedo.
They also received the Presidents of the Juries of the Princess of Asturias Awards, members of the Boards of Trustees and emeritus trustees and, finally, the winners of the Princess of Asturias Awards 2023, on whom Don Felipe will present the insignia of the Foundation.
Princess Leonor presented the traditional The Princess of Asturias Foundation insignia to all the winners during the meeting.
The Spanish Royal Family and The Princess of Asturias Foundation has a 3 decade long relationship that reflects the Monarch’s relationship to the Kingdom of Asturias. The heir to the throne is titled as the Prince/Princess of Asturias. King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia’s elder daughter, Princess Leonor, is the current holder of the title since 2014.
