After this week’s grand and historical celebrations of Princess Leonor’s 18th birthday, Queen Letizia of Spain today stepped out for a solo engagement when she attended the 23rd edition of the “City of Tudela ‘First Feature’ Film Festival” at the Moncayo Cinema, Tudela, Navarra.
Since 2014, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain have worked to re-establish the public trust in the Spanish Crown and we are seeing the fruit of those efforts these days when the people from all age brackets step out to greet them with warmth and love.
Outside the theatre in Tudela, Letizia stopped for a quick walkabout to greet the public members gathered outside. Many of them brought lovely presents for The Princess of Asturias who turned 18 this Tuesday.
Letizia is definitely the Queen of Selfies.
Organised by Tudela-Cultura and Cine Club Muskaria, “City of Tudela ‘First Feature’ Film Festival” is one of the most important cultural events of the year in the Navarrese town. This year’s edition paid tribute to Carlos Saura and Fernando Méndez-Leite. The film festival promotes the works made in Spanish cinema throughout the year. This year’s festival was held between October 27 and November 4.
More than 200 high school and senior high school students from the Tudela institutes and colleges IES Benajmín de Tudela, IES Valle del Ebro, CIP ETI Tudela, Jesuitas and Anunciata have been able to enjoy a classic of Spanish cinema that was a turning point in the filmography of the time and received numerous awards, including the prestigious Silver Bear at the Berlinale.
Queen Letizia also enjoyed the screening of “The Hunt” (1966) – known as the best works of director, photographer and writer – Carlos Saura and Fernando Méndez-Leite. Letizia presented a commemorative plaque to Eulalia Ramón – the partner of Carlos Saura, who died earlier this year.
