King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain hosted the annual Diplomatic Reception at the Royal Palace of Madrid. The traditional Diplomatic Corps Reception is part of the new year calendar and every year at the end of January, Felipe and Letizia welcome various diplomats to the Royal Palace. The diplomats are the country representation on various global platforms.

First the Royal couple greeted all the guests in the reception hall of Saleta de Gasparini and then headed to the Throne room where King addressed the gathering. In his address, Felipe talked about the Spanish involvement on the global platform in 2023, its assistance to various countries during the time of crisis and a promising 2024.
Once again Queen Letizia stick to her regime of re wearing a familiar look at the annual event. For last many years, Letizia has not debuted a new outfit at the annual diplomatic reception. Two years ago she touched another milestone when Queen Letizia brought a 30 years old outfit from her mother-in-law Queen Sofia’s wardrobe for this reception.
Interestingly, the blue dress that she wore today seems to dislike Royal jewels. Queen Letizia first wore this shirt-style gown featuring a long vee-neckline, with small buttons at the front and belted waistline in January 2022 at the Military Easter. That day Letizia topped it with a pearl and diamond brooch that fell down during the military salute. Felipe noticed it and picked it up.
Today, after shaking hands for all the diplomats, Letizia’s Diamond and Sapphire bracelet got unclipped and fell down on the floor. Letizia picked it up and Felipe helped her clipping it back. On both occasions, Letizia did not even blink and seemed very unfazed.
Talking about the gift, Queen Sofia told Pilar Urbano “A blue stone necklace, diamonds and sapphires with a hanging pearl, a tear. It wasn’t the crown jewel. I had it, from my wedding“. Letizia wore the set on the pre-wedding gala at the El Pardo palace that year.
