On Sunday, Denmark wrote another chapter in its Royal History when Queen Margrethe II abdicated after 52 years and her elder son Frederik became the King Frederik X of Denmark. With this turn of events, the country got its first commoner Queen – Queen Mary of Denmark. On Monday, The new King and Queen along with Queen Margrethe II, new Crown Prince Christian and other members of the Royal Family attended a reception at the Danish Parliament marking the Proclamation of the new King.
It was the first official engagement of King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark since becoming the Monarchs of one of the oldest Royal dynasty. During the reception, The Dane Prime Minister read a message from the new King to the Parliament and congratulated the Royal Family on the new dawn.
