The Late King was the maternal uncle of Spanish King Felipe. Felipe’s mother Queen Sofia is the younger sister of the Greek King who happened to bet he last King of the now abolished Greek Monarchy. As the only son of King Paul I and Queen Frederica, Constantine II was proclaimed King of the Hellenes on 6 March 1964 at the age of 24, succeeding his father King Paul I, the first cousin of HRH Prince Philip of Greece, the Duke of Edinburgh.

The Late King was also the Godfather of Prince William, The Prince of Wales. William was scheduled to give a reading at the service but just two hours before the service it was reported that William will not be attending the service due to some personal matter. William did not attend the funeral last year either.

The service was actually hosted by British King Charles III and Queen Camilla represented the King who would have been the host if he has not been undergoing the Cancer treatment currently.  Queen Camilla travelled to the St. George’s chapel with Queen Anne-Marie, widow of the late King. Camilla also hosted a reception at the Windsor Castle later on for the guests in the attendance.

Felipe and Letizia walked hand-in-hand to the chapel from the castle along with all the royals. Letizia loves being in the UK. Felipe and Letizia’s both daughters also have strong ties with the country. Princess Leonor studied at the Atlantic College in Wales and currently Infanta Sofia is studying there.
