Description
In April 2017, during Japan State Banquet, Queen Letizia of Spain dazzled the night in a gorgeous blue ball gown paired with the Spanish Floral Tiara, Joyas de Pasar twin Diamond Bracelets, and the fleur-de-lis brooch that she teamed up with Queen Sofia’s Diamond and Sapphire earrings.
This was the first time we saw Letizia wearing stunning pair of cabochon sapphires and diamond earrings. The earrings were reportedly a gift to her Mother-in-Law Queen Sofia and the origin remains unknown. The earrings are part of a full suit that includes a matching necklace, these earrings and a small barrette brooch. Sofia was first seen wearing the set during a State visit to Canada in 1975.
The design of the earrings is contemporary and set in yellow gold featuring two rows of diamonds surrounding a central sapphire in the leaf shape from which three cabochon sapphires are suspended that further have a diamond attached to them at the bottom.
The earrings made another comeback after 5 years in October 2022 when Queen Letizia wore them during a German State visit. After a month, Queen Letizia re-wore the gorgeous pair at the 175th anniversary of the foundation of Círculo del Liceo in Barcelona in November 2022.
