Today, Queen Letizia of Spain visited the Latin Theatre in Madrid to attend the World Mental Health Day 2019 commemoration activities that were held this year under the slogan of “Connect with life” by the Confederation of Mental Health Spain. World Mental Health Day, that is celebrated on October 10, provides the opportunity to join efforts to improve mental health worldwide.
The Confederation of Mental Health Spain is a non-profit and social interest entity that emerged in 1983. Currently, it integrates 19 regional federations and uni-provincial associations, which bring together more than 300 associations and add more than 47,000 members throughout the state territory. Its mission is to improve the adoption of all measures that contribute to the improvement of the quality of life of people with mental disorder and that of their families, defend their rights and represent the associative movement created around mental health.
During the event, a video describing the importance of mental health was projected. Queen Letizia watched a theatrical performance of the play “Shaking” by the company La Rueda during the event. Awareness campaigns have been organized for over 15 years coinciding with the World Day for the Prevention of Suicide (#WorldSuicidePreventionDay).
