Queen Letizia of Spain is in Albacete today where she is opening the 2022/2023 Vocational Training Course at the CIFP Aguas Nuevas de Albacete. Every year, Queen Letizia picks up a vocational training centre to visit at the opening of the teaching year. Vocational Training is the professional study that covers the gap between the labour market requirement and educational training.
These vocational courses respond to the need for qualified personnel specialized in the different professional sectors to respond to the current demand for employment. Vocational Training offers more than 150 training cycles within 26 professional families, with theoretical and practical content appropriate to the various professional fields.
The courses are offered at three levels – Basic Vocational Training Cycles, Intermediate Training Courses, Higher Level Training courses and Degrees. The academic requirements for each of the courses are re-evaluated and re-constructed as per the market requirement and labour requirements.
Queen Letizia‘s this year’s destination CIFP prepares qualified professionals capable of responding to the demands of their work environment, offering them training that meets their expectations and links their learning to the needs of the companies and institutions of fields in which they work.
These annual visits to different vocational training centres give Queen Letizia an opportunity to learn more about the country’s educational structure, and how it’s coping with real-world challenges. The Royal visits also highlight these centres and give them a much-needed promotion to attract better talents and students.
Education, Youth empowerment, and social causes have always been a top priority on Letizia’s agenda. During the visit, Letizia held a meeting with representatives of the teaching staff, businessmen, unions and students.
After the meeting, Letizia toured the CIFP and learned about various training courses available at the centre. She was able to see the Energy and Water Workshop (renewable) and the Classroom workshop on Wood and Furniture, where teachers and students were working.
Letizia spent time talking to the students and learning about their life on campus and what they think of possibilities after their training.
Queen Letizia was presented with a sketch of her daughters Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia. The sketch is based on the picture of Leonor and Sofia that is part of the official portrait Palace released in 2020.
