The Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Catherine, welcomed the Crown Prince and Princess of Norway, Haakon and Mette-Marit at Windsor Castle today. The Norway Crown Couple is on a two-day visit to the UK, designed to promote and strengthen ties between the two countries. This week so far has remained busy for William and Catherine too – on Monday they visited Wales and yesterday they attended the St. David’s day Parade at Windsor.

Both Royal couples met in the Green Drawing room of Windsor castle and were joined by the Norwegian ambassador to the UK, and representatives from leading Norwegian businesses working on green energy solutions in the country. The Green drawing room is one of the Semi-State Rooms at the royal residence and has become one of the regular places where William and Catherine hold audiences.

In February 2018, William and Catherine, then known as The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, made their first official visit to Norway where they had two busy days out in Norway with Prince Haakon and Princess Mette-Marit. Today’s meeting was not announced beforehand but was much anticipated. The Norway Prince and Princess were supposed to visit the UK in September 2022 but after the sudden demise of Queen Elizabeth II, the visit was postponed.

Kensington Palace said that today’s round table meeting was focused on discussing shared concerns about the environment – a social cause Prince William is very passionate about, hence the presence of the representatives from three leading companies from Norway who are working on green energy solutions.
