Queen Letizia of Spain, the Honorary President of FAD Foundation, attended the annual Board meeting of the foundation at the CaixaBank headquarters in Madrid. This was Letizia’s first engagement of the week and as we are ending towards Christmas and year-end, Letizia is having an extremely light schedule.

Established in 1989, Advertising agencies and the media came together to launch a single social media project. Since then, more than 70 awareness campaigns have been launched, reaching more than one million advertising impacts.During its inaugural quarter-century, campaigns by the foundation emphasized the hazards associated with drug use and underscored the pivotal role of prevention. They navigated through challenges like the “heroin crisis” and the perils of substances like cocaine. An additional focus was placed on promoting education as a deterrent to drug use, as evidenced by the emergence of the slogan “Education is everything” in 2002. Campaigns also vigilantly cautioned against the trivialization of drug use and shed light on the dangers posed by specific substances, including alcohol.

In 2015, a new creative concept, “Construye” (Build), marked the inception of campaigns centering on young women constructing their life projects as a protective measure against the risks of drug use. From 2018 onwards, particularly gaining momentum since the foundation’s rebranding in 2022 from the Foundation for the Help against Drug Addiction to Fad Youth, the mission was redefined: to enhance the well-being and quality of life of young people. Consequently, awareness campaigns broadened their scope to encompass issues such as preventing the consumption of child pornography, highlighting the risks associated with online gambling, addressing mental health concerns, and exploring various other pertinent topics.
