The Military Easter dates back to the reign of Carlos III. when, on January 6, 1782, the Menorcan town of Mahon, which was under the English rule at that time, was recovered by Spanish forces. As an expression of joy, Charles III ordered the viceroys, captains general, governors and military commanders to let the forces celebrate and made this day an annual tradition.
