Queen Letizia of Spain presided over the opening of the Princess of Girona Foundation’s ‘Talent Tour’ at the Llotja theatre in Lleida where she also revealed the first Princess of Girona Foundation award winner of 2024. This was Letizia’s first public engagement of the week. The gorgeous Spanish Queen was looking lovely in her red power suit.
The Talent Tour runs through five Spanish cities, in the first half of 2024 before the annual Princess of Girona Foundation awards in the summer, with the aim of activating the employability, entrepreneurship, health or the purpose of social impact of the Generation Z. This is the third year of the tour which has gain a momentum in just a very short period and attracted the young people for its clear objective.
The foundation along with TRIVU as a strategic ally, offers more than 250 activities to young people during the tour. Programming revolves around five main axes of content: employability and entrepreneurship; physical health; emotional health; purpose and social impact; and sustainability. The 2024 talent Tour has started in Lleida (22-26 January) and will also pass through Salamanca (19 to 23 February); Cadiz (18-22 March); Santander (22-26 April) and Madrid (8-9 May).
During her visit, Queen Letizia revealed the winner of the “Employment” Head Award 2024 that this year has been give to Antonio Espinosa de los Monteros. Antonio, a training architect, is the co-founder and CEO of AUARA, the first social company in Spain to reinvest 100% of its dividends in projects to supply clean water, pioneering in Europe when using 100% rPET bottles. In addition, he is co-founder and CEO of LIUX, an innovative Spanish startup focused on sustainable mobility that has developed the first car based on flax fibers, thus reducing weight, cost and CO2 emissions.
Letizia also met with Ousman Umar, winner of Social category in 2021, who at thirteen undertook a trip to Europe in search of a better future and that would lead him to a four-year crusade. He is currently the founder of Nasco Feeding Minds, an NGO from which educational projects and computer classrooms are developed in rural areas of Africa. She also learned about Rafel Jord, winner of Employment 2023, who revealed how the project has revolutionized the satellite industry and Elisenda Bou-Balus.
Before leaving, Queen Letizia met with the young people attending the tour and stood for photographs and selfies.
