King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain attended the opening of the the 44th edition of the International Tourism Fair, FITUR, at the IFEMA-MADRID in Madrid. The annual ART fair is one of the staple events of the Royal calendar at the beginning of the new year. The fair brings together various countries together to show case the latest inventions and developments of Tourism sector at a single space.
This 44th edition, which is held in Ifema Madrid from 24 to 28 January, reflects the growth experienced in recent months by the national and international tourism industry and lays the foundations for the consolidation of the sector during 2024, according to the organizers. This year a total of 9,000 participating companies, 152 countries, and 806 headline exhibitors have set their showcases in 9 pavilions of the FITUR.
Every year there is a foreign country joining as the guest of honour. This year there were two Albania and Ecuador. King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain were joined by the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama and the president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, at the fair. They also met with the forty international tourism ministers, then visited the exhibitor of Iberia, official carrier and president of the Organizing Committee of the Fair.
The Royal couple toured various pavilions and learn about the offerings of this year. They stopped here and there and received briefings by the various stall holders and stood for group photographs. The international Fair does not need any introduction but the presence of the Royal couple definitely takes its recognizance to another level for public limelight.
