King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain were at the ABC headquarters for the annual ABC Journalism Awards. The awards are the staple part of the Royal couple’s calendar. It was Letizia’s only engagement for the week. Spain will be electing its new government this week hence due to the elections the Royal Family is trying to stay under the radar to avoid any influence on the election result in any way.
Next week, The family might wrap up its Summer agenda in Madrid and head to Balearic Island for the Royal summer break and then they will be retreating for a private vacation before Princess Leonor heads for her first year of Military training at the General Military Academy of Zaragoza.
Coming back to tonight’s award presentation, the Royal couple joined the esteemed personalities from the local authorities and media field at the ABC Headquarters in Madrid to present the “Mariano de Cavia”, “Luca de Tena” and “Mingote” Awards. This year’s winners for the said awards were Manuel Jabois, Pedro García Cuartango and Flavita Bananas respectively.
This year’s Cavia Gala not only celebrated the winners of the yearly awards but also marked ABC Media’s 120th anniversary. King Felipe addressed the gathering and congratulated the winners and the media house for its century-old success and history.
