King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain are hosting the President and First Lady of Colombia , Gustavo Petro and Verónica Alcocer, for their 2 days long State visit to Spain. Earlier in the day, The Royal couple received the Colombian President and First Lady at the Royal Palace with Military ceremonial welcome. In the evening, King Felipe and Queen Letizia hosted a State Banquet (Gala dinner) for the first President and First Lady of Colombia.
After almost an year and half we saw the return of a Tiara event. In 2022 there were three state visits – Spanish State visit to Croatia, Spanish State visit to Germany and Qatar state visit to Spain, but these events were black tie dinners hence no tiaras.
King Felipe and Queen Letizia received the Colombia President and First Lady in the Teniers Hall of the Royal Palace of Madrid for the state banquet and after official photographs, both couple headed to the Hall of the Thrones to receive rest of the guests that included Spanish Prime Minister and his cabinet, delegations from both countries and other distinguished guests.

Heading towards Queen Letizia style – The gorgeous Spanish Queen chose her favourite hue for the dazzling evening at the Palace – red.
Queen Letizia was wearing a customized red Carolina Herrera Ruffled cap sleeve Georgette gown (shown here in green). The gown was described as, “Carolina Herrera brings a deft touch of feminine frill to the simple elegance of a fitted A-line gown with soft ruffles forming the cap sleeves and a partial peplum around the waist. Beautifully crafted of fluid, double-faced georgette, the bateau-neck style is ready to rule the red carpet“.

And now to the dazzling diamonds of the evening, Queen Letizia brought back one of Royal Jewel which was arguably her favourite piece when she was The Princess of Asturias – The Diamond Floral Tiara. The Tiara was a wedding gift to her mother-in-law, Queen Sofia, from General Franco in 1962. We last saw the tiara in 2019 at the Peru State Banquet. You can read more about Queen Letizia’s diamond floral tiara and it origin in detail here.
Letizia paired the Floral tiara with her diamond studs from which her Australian pearls hang and a diamond ribbon brooch that is part of the ‘Joyas de Pasar’ – The Royal jewel collection that is passed to the Spanish Queens as per the will of Queen Victoria Eugenia. David from spanishroyaljewels on Instagram has more details about the stunning ribbon brooch which apparently came in a pair.
The Queen used the brooch to pin the Colombian Order of Boyacá that she received in 2015 Colombian State visit to Spain.
and her Corterno ring was not missing either.
