The Association of European Journalists (APE) was established in Brussels in 1963 with the purpose of bringing together all journalists in the need for European integration on democratic grounds and determined to defend freedom of information as an indispensable condition for the achievement of that goal.

Under those same principles, and after the agreement of the XVII International Congress of the APE held in Rome, on October 2, 1981, the Constitution Act and the Statutes of the Spanish Section of the APE were signed. On May 8, 1982, King Juan Carlos accepted the Honorary Presidency of the Spanish Section of the Association of European Journalists on behalf of the then Prince of Asturias Felipe.

This exhibition is the result of the work carried out to prepare a new chronological catalogue of Goya’s drawings through a collaboration agreement signed in 2014 by the Botín Foundation and the Prado Museum.

CasaReal

Since the 1973 Gassier catalogue was published, the number of drawings has undergone modifications and there has been a need to develop a new reasoned catalogue in which the huge collection of his work from more than two centuries ago can be updated.

In addition, it provides a modern vision of the ideas that the artist approached on a recurring basis during his life, and that highlights the survival and relevance of his thinking.
