King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain’s Day 2 of State visit to Denmark

King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain are on 3 days long State visit to Denmark. Yesterday the day one ended on the glittering note – a Dazzling State Banquet hosted by Queen Margrethe II for King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia where they were joined by Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary.

In the morning, King Felipe VI along with Crown Prince Frederik took part in the opening of a business conference at NH Collection Hotel in Copenhagen with the participation of Minister for Foreign Affairs Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Spain’s Minister for Foreign Affairs José Manuel Albares.

After the business meeting, King Felipe and Crown Prince headed to the Citadal where they were joined by Queen Letizia and Crown Princess Mary where they paid tribute to the fallen heroes by laying a wreath at the Monument.

From their the four of them travelled to the Copenhagen City Hall, where Lord Mayor Sophie Hæstorp Andersen welcomes them and hosts a reception in the Ceremonial Hall.  They were joined by Queen Margrethe II at the Hall.

The next stop of the day was University of Copenhagen. During the visit, they were shown the book “El Libro de Los Epitomes”. The book dates from the 1500s and contains a description of approximately 2,000 books from a library belonging to Hernando Colon, son of Christopher Columbus. The book disappeared after Hernando Colon’s death in 1539, but, in 2018, the book was found among manuscripts in the Arnamagnæan Collection at the University of Copenhagen.

From there The Queen of Denmark headed home while King Felipe and Crown Prince Frederik headed for a business luncheon at the Spanish residence while Queen Letizia of Spain and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark visited Mary Elizabeth’s Hospital, which is Rigshospitalet’s future hospital for children, teens, pregnant women and their families.
