King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain will be undertaking their first outgoing state visit of the year. Felipe and Letizia will be visiting Denmark between November 06 and 08. The Spanish State visit to Denmark was originally scheduled in March this year but had to be rescheduled due to Queen Margrethe II’s surgery.

Denmark Royal court confirmed the news with a press release that read, “At the invitation of Her Majesty The Queen, Their Majesties King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain will pay a State Visit to Denmark the days of 6 – 8 November 2023. The King and Queen will be accompanied by the Spanish minister for foreign affairs and a business delegation during the State Visit. The business delegation will focus on areas of Danish-Spanish cooperation within, among other things, green transformation, the pharmaceutical industry and shipping.“

Although the state visits are usually undertaken to strengthen the bilateral relationships between two counties and that will also be the purpose of this state visit. Spanish and Danish Kingdoms have much more personal relationship beyond the formal relations of two nations. Spanish King Felipe VI and Danish Queen Margrethe II are descendants of British Queen Victoria and Danish King Christian IX. Queen Margrethe II’s younger sister, Anne-Marie, is the widow of King Felipe’s maternal uncle, King Constantine II of Greece – brother of Queen Sofia (Felipe’s mother).

Although we don’t have the itinerary yet, but there are media reports that November 06 will be gala night. The last Spanish Tiara event was in May this year when King Felipe and Queen Letizia in May when the Royal couple welcomed the President and First Lady of Colombia. Letizia brought her Floral Diamond tiara back for the event.

The Last outgoing State visit in November 2022 When King Felipe and Queen Letizia visited Croatia which was a non-tiara event.
