King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain departed for the Denmark State visit from the State Pavilion of the T-4 Terminal of Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport. As per the tradition, before leaving the country, King and Queen met with the Government delegation, took the salute and reviewed the troops.
Felipe and Letizia are visiting the Scandinavian country on the invitation of Queen Margrethe II. The visit was originally scheduled for March this year but had to be postponed due to Danish Queen’s health issues. Joining the Spanish King and Queen on the state visit are government official and business delegations.
This is Royal Couple’s first outgoing state visit of the year and also first state visit to Denmark since their coronation in May 2014. The last state visit to Denmark was in 1980 and Denmark’s Queen paid state visit to Spain in 1983. Felipe and Letizia have visited Denmark officially in the past as the Prince and Princess of Asturias.
