Queen Letizia Managed Two Contrasting Engagements with a Small Style Change

Today, Queen Letizia had two different engagements. In the morning, Queen attended the presentation of the “#Femtástica” Project, created by the Drug Addiction Assistance Foundation and Samsung #somosSMARTgirl.

The project aims to give voice to young women as producers and consumers of digital content and to help alleviate the deficit of female voices and looks in the production of content and its visibility.  During the event, project # Femtástica was presented with the projection of slides and videos. A  dialogue “The technological narrative: are we on time?” Began and the manifesto “I am # Fantastic” was also presented.

# Femtástica opens the window on the gender perspective is in itself, whose initiative focuses exclusively on women who stand out in the current digital landscape and make them visible, as a speaker of their trajectories and their merits.

The project develops one theme per quarter with its own audiovisual material, social media strategy and debate with its protagonists and communities.

Before leaving, Queen met with the FAD participants and managers, assistants and guests.

Later in the day, Queen joined her husband King Felipe to Arganda del Rey to know the extent of the floods of this Madrid town. On August 26, the town of Arganda del Rey suffered some floods caused by the “Cold Drop”, almost three weeks later it was again affected by floods caused by isolated depression at high levels.

During the visit, Felipe and Letizia met with authorities, staff and volunteers who were among the first responders. The couple attended a work meeting where they were informed of the means used to curb the floods and the impact of the floods.

Felipe and Letizia our of the affected streets, where they were able to observe the recovery work and the damage caused by the neighbours and owners of the commercial premises. At  Calle Real, they were informed about the reasons that caused the floods and the actions and infrastructure works that will be carried out to avoid future floods.

During the tour, Felipe and Letizia saw Hernández Photographic Studio where they observed the photographs of the previous flood in the city.

For the day that had two context-wise opposite engagements without any time for an outfit change, Queen Letizia trod the water very carefully but stylishly. She wore Massimo Dutti textured weave gilet that she debuted in May 2017.

Queen Letizia started the Autumn with a busy week. Today, Letizia opened the 2019/2020 Vocational Training Course. Every year Queen visits an institute in Spain to open the vocational academic session. This year the annual event was held at the IES “Severo Ochoa” of the Alicante town of Elche.

Upon arrival at the centre, Letizia was received by the director of the IES “Severo Ochoa”, Elvira Quiles, the management team of the Center and by representatives of teachers, businessmen and students. The IES “Severo Ochoa” is a public centre under the Ministry of Education of the Generalitat Valenciana. Located in the municipality of Elche, in the northern zone, in the industrial estate of Carrús.

The institution started its first course during the 1991/1992 session, then called Institute of Vocational Training No. 3. The centre began its teaching activity in other centres of the town in the afternoon shift in the next two academic courses. Its facilities were inaugurated in 1994 and after starting the name change procedure it was called IES “Severo Ochoa”.

It is a small centre in extension with approximately 900 students of the three educational stages: the first and second cycle of Secondary Education, Baccalaureate and Formative Cycles of Middle and Upper Grade, distributed in three scheduled classes morning, evening and night.

The visit began with a brief meeting with staff and students in which many other topics among “The teachings of Vocational Training and the relationship with companies”, “What is expected of Dual Vocational Training and what is in the workplace?”, and  “Dual Vocational Training seen from the company” were discussed.

After the meeting, Queen Letizia toured the centre visiting the trade room where students from the middle-level training cycle of Commercial Activities Technician were preparing a showcase.  Vocational Training offers more than 150 training cycles within 26 professional families, with theoretical and practical content appropriate to the various professional fields.

Next, the Queen visited the computer room, where the students of the medium-level training cycle of Technician in Microinformatics Systems and Networks were doing some practices of assembling computer equipment.

It came with a detachable matching belt.

Queen Letizia of Spain who is the Permanent Honorary President of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) and it’s Scientific Foundation, presided over the main act of the AECC on the occasion of World Cancer Research Day at the Queen Sofía National Art Center Museum in Madrid.

The event was held in the Auditorium of the Museum and was attended by 400. The act began with the projection of a video.  Various aspects of Cancer research and its stable funding was discussed during the day. Today organization also launched a new pilot project “Cancer Mission: What does Spain need?”

The AECC is the first entity whose honorary presidency Letizia assumed on a permanent basis, and in which she actively participates, thus recognizing the important work that the foundation has been doing for more than 60 years in the fight against cancer.

Speaking at the event, Queen Letizia said, ” It is important to continue to spread information around society to ensure the value and importance of scientific and oncological Cancer research”.

After the act, Letizia met with the researchers who are doing scientific researches paid by the AECC grants.
